PET Resin (Polyester)
Polyethylene Terephthalate, commonly abbreviated PET, is the most common thermoplastic polymer resin of the Polyester family and is used in fibers for clothing, Containers for liquids and foods, thermoforming for manufacturing and in combination with glass fiber for engineering resins. The majority of the world’s PET production is for synthetic fibers (in excess of 60%), with bottle production accounting for about 30% of global demand. In the context of textile applications, PET is referred to by its common name, POLYSTER, whereas the acronym PET is generally used in relation to packaging. PET is also used for manufacturing PET Films.
Polyester (PET) makes up about 18% of world polymer production and is the fourth-most-produced Polymer.
1. Bottle Grade PET Resin
Plastic bottles have been the basic necessity for any industry selling liquid products to the consumers. Hence there is a great demand of plastic bottle all over the world. Many types of plastic bottles are made from Bottle Grade PET Resin. So, there is a huge demand of bottle grade pet chips world-wide. End use of Bottle grade chips mainly depends on the intrinsic viscosity (IV).
PET Chips with IV of 0.82 +/-0.02 is mainly used in making bottles for carbonated drinks, small bottle for edible oil, liquor, medicines & pet sheets.
PET Chips with IV of 0.84 +/- 0.02 is mainly used for making Carbonated Soft Drinks (CSD).
PET Chips with IV of 0.87 +/- 0.02 is used for big packing bottles for carbonated drinks & 3 – 5 gallons water bottles.
2. Textile Grade (Yarn Grade) Polyester Chips
Polyester Chips – Semi Dull (SD)
Polyester Chips – Super Bright (SB)
3. Film Grade PET Chips
